Bhubaneswar: Orissa assembly was on Friday adjourned till Monday as stalemate entered seventh day in a row with opposition Congress creating pandemonium in the well demanding resignation of chief minister and action against officials and Vedanta in wake of High Court judgement.

Congress members stormed into the well of the House and shouted anti-government and anti-Vedanta slogans. Speaker Pradip Kumar Amat could manage to run the question hour for 32 minutes before adjourning the House till 3 pm.

When the House reassembled at 3 pm, agitating Congress MLAs repeated noisy scenes and attempted to climb on the speaker's podium. They too broke speaker's mike forcing Amat to use a cordless mike to announce adjournment of the house.

Even as the opposition protest created uproar in the house, ministers for Agriculture, Revenue and Disaster Management and Food and Supplies read out reports on the situation arising out of unseasonal rains.

Strongly criticising the ruling BJD, leader of opposition from Congress Bhupinder Singh said they were not allowed to speak in the House and kept in dark about the government's action on the persons involved in the land acquisition for the proposed Vedanta University.

In its November 16 order the Orissa High Court had termed the state government's land acquisition for Vedanta University as illegal, Singh said demanding action against the officials who committed irregularities in the processes.
