Berhampur: The Sarpanch of
Achhuli gram panchayat in Orissa's Ganjam district was
arrested on charge of illegally transporting country liquor,
police said on Sunday.
Sridhara Dora, the sarpanch and a juvenile were
forwarded to court after their arrest yesterday, inspector-in
charge of Purushottampur police station A Mishra said.
A car and 250 litres of liquor was seized from them,
he said adding the liquor was being transported from a village
near Khallikote to Purushottampur.
Four other persons involved in transportation of
liquor were absconding, he said adding efforts are on to nab
them.
