New Delhi: Andhra Pradesh's Somanth Ghosh had to sweat it out to beat local boy Ashwat Gogia 3-2 win in Group I of the men's qualifying round in the National Ranking Table Tennis Championships (North Zone) at Yamuna Sports Complex on Monday.
In another qualifying match, Parag Agarwal of Uttar Pradesh outplayed MR Rajiv of Kerala 3-1 to advance into the next round of Group II while in Group IX, R Venkataraman of Tamil Nadu outplayed Subhjit Saha of (OFSPB) 3-0 to enter the next round.
The competitors in the men's section have been divided into 12 Groups.
Meanwhile, in the sub-junior boys main round, B Arvind of Tamil Nadu defeated Lalhunlua of PSPB-A 11-8 7-11 13-12 11-6 to advance into the second round.
Delhi's Utkarsh Gupta too had an easy first round outing
against Manas Ghosh of Maharashtra beating him in straight
games 11-9 11-7 11-5.
