Indian Kabaddi players arrive after retaining Asian Jr titles Chennai: Victorious Indian boys and girls teams who retained their respective titles in the 2nd Asian Junior Kabaddi Championship at Kadak, Malaysia, arrived here this morning to a rousing reception.

Both the Indian boys and girls defeated Iran in the final to defend their respective titles on Sunday. Tamil Nadu Kabaddi Association officials and fans mainly from Madurai and Salem thronged the airport to receive the players, who were garlanded on their arrival.

Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India President Janardan Singh Gehlot also accompanied the players at the airport.

"We are happy that Indian juniors were able to win the continental championship for the second year in succession. The boys were able to retain the title without much difficulty but the girls faced great resistance from the Iranians," said Gehlot.

A total of eight boys and seven girls teams competed for honours in the three-day championships.

The boys team thrashed Iran 39-16 while the girls defended their title getting the better of their rivals 42-34 in final.
