Chennai: Mumbai's unseeded Jangra brothers - Sandeep, Vikas and Naveen - outwitted their respective rivals to progress to the main draw of the PSA Indian Challenger-III event.
The fourth qualifying slot went to third seeded Maekawa Kouske of Japan, who defeated Karan Malik of India 11-13, 12-10, 11-6, 14-12 in a 40-minute duel.
Though Karan messed up with his chances after winning the first game, he failed to wrap up the second and fourth games mainly due to unforced errors.
In all the games, Karan led by three-four points but allowed Maekawa to get back in to the game. At times, Karan came up with unbelievable returns from his flowing forehands but at vital stages, the Indian failed.
Earlier, Sandeep was at his usual best in disposing of Balamurugan at 11-5, 11-6, 11-4 in 25 minutes. Sandeep kept up the pressure on Balamurugan, who is a coach of the Indian Squash Academy, throughout the match.
