New Delhi: No Indian was found good enough as the International Hockey Federation (FIH) today unveiled
nominees for its annual Player of the Year awards.
The FIH list of nominees for both the Men's Player of the
Year and the Young Player of the Year are similar in the sense
that none mention any Indian player for the prestigious
awards.
Running for the Men's Player of the Year aware are
Spaniard Pol Amat, Australian Jamie Dwyer, Barry Middleton of
England, Teun de Nooijer of the Netherlands, Korean Jong Ho
Seo and German Christopher Zeller.
For the Men's Young Player of the Year, New Zealander
Simon Child, Spaniard Sergi Enrique, German Tobias Hauke,
Englishman Ashley Jackson, Dutch Robbert Kemperman and
Australian Eddie Ockenden have been shortlisted.
All players participating in the Champions Trophy had
their chance to vote and out of the votes received, the FIH
established a short list.
The winners will be announced during the final weekend of
the Champions Trophy in Melbourne, Australia, an FIH release
said.
