New Delhi: In yet another bid to showcase its preparedness for the upcoming Commonwealth Games, the Organising Committee today took the mediapersons on a guided tour of Jawaharlal Nehru stadium complex, the venue for the opening and closing ceremonies of the October 3-14 megaevent.

The visit was part of OC's two-day media trip of different venues to build up a positive image in the eyes of the 'ever-critical' journalists with just three weeks to go for the start of the Games.

Yesterday, four out of the 11 competition venues -- Talkatora Indoor stadium (boxing), Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Swimming Complex, Thyagaraj Sports Complex (netball) and Siri Fort Sports Complex (badminton and squash) were visited by mediapersons.

"Lawn Ball venue inside the complex is world class. It is evident from the quality of the turf laid down by the Sports Authority of India (SAI). Players will definitely get the home advantage," OC secretary general Lalit Bhanot told reporters during the media visit.

"JLN stadium is getting ready for the opening ceremony. Aerostat ballon will give the audience an amazing lighting experience. We are ready to deliver world class Games," he added.

On the occasion, OC vice chairman Randhir Singh said, "Everyone has worked hard to overcome problems, caused mostly by the monsoon, but now the time has come to look at the positives. The facilities are world class and we need to showcase them through media."
