Semenya waits on Commonwealth Games inclusion Johannesburg: Caster Semenya will have to wait until late August to see if she is included on South Africa’s team for the Commonwealth Games.

South Africa’s Olympic body, SASCOC, named an initial 115-member squad Wednesday for the competition in India, which begins Oct. 3, but says the track and field and rugby sevens teams will only be announced on Aug. 25.

Semenya returned to competition after an 11-month layoff because of gender tests by winning both her recent comeback races in Finland. Coach Michael Seme said the aim is to get the 800-meter world champion fit enough to compete for gold in New Delhi.

Semenya is expected to make the team and South Africa’s athletics federation has said it will do all it can to help her prepare for the Commonwealth Games.
