Six-Red snooker exciting: Advani New Delhi: The speed and unpredictability involved in the Six-Red snooker make the category a far more exciting one and it is fast catching the attention of the sportslovers, feels ace Indian cueist Pankaj Advani.

Advani said the main attraction of the format lies in the fact that within a few minutes things could change in anyone's favour and till the last ball one couldn't predict what is there in store next.

"This version of snooker is faster and people really enjoy watching it. This format really excites me. It's very short and fast-paced. One can really have a pick at his shots," Advani told reporters.

"This version offers everyone an equal opportunity to win. When you have six balls on the table, you don't need to have that much thinking or skills. With basic level of skills you can compete with any of the quality players. The format is really intense and involves a lot of drama," said Advani.

Advani had last week won the inaugural edition of the Six-Red Nationals in Bangalore, defeating Asian Indoor Games gold medalist Brijesh Damani 8-7 in the best-of-15-frames final.

"I am glad that I have won the title since it being the inaugural one. Happy to be the first one to win it," he said.

Six-Red is a new discipline in snooker with only six red balls on the table and it can be played with an average frame time of 6-8 minutes at the professional level.

The only difference between the traditional snooker and Six-Red snooker is that in the latter, the number of red balls stacked in a triangle behind the pink is reduced to six.
