Puducherry: Puducherry Assembly on Friday had a ten minute long monsoon session and adjourned sine die after transacting scheduled business.

As soon as the House began its session, Speaker V Sabhapathy made obituary references to former president APJ Abdul Kalam and paid rich tributes to his contributions in the field of science and missile technology. He said that the death of Kalam was an irreparable loss.

Speaker also made obituary reference to former health and cooperation minister S Dakshinamoorthy who was a member of the Representative Assembly in Puducherry in 1950s.

Dakshinamoorthy died in June this year.

The Speaker also made obituary reference to more than 700 pilgrims, who died in the stampede in Saudi Arabia during the Haj pilgrimage on Thursday.

All the members stood in silence for a couple of minutes to pay homage to the departed souls.

When the House took up the subsequent business, AIADMK members P Purushothaman and A Anbalagan urged the Speaker to ensure that the House adopted a resolution seeking international probe into genocide in Sri Lanka.

Even as the members were making their pleas, Electricity Minister T Thiagarajan went ahead with presentation of the notifications of Electricity Regulatory Commission for State of Goa and other Union Territories.

The ruling AINRC legislator G Nehru who quit the post of the government whip recently also rose from his seat to bring to the notice of the Speaker the letter he had written seeking a 10-day session of the House.
