Rains continue to batter Puduchery, Karaikal

Puducherry: Normal life remained hit in Puducherry for the third successive day on Saturday with torrential rains battering the Union Territory.

Officials said Puducherry region received 15 cm rainfall while Karaikal 19.2 cm in the last 24 hours ending 8.30 am today.

Low lying areas remained water logged in most of the peripheral areas in Puducherry.Control rooms were operating at the Collectorates in the two regions to help the people. All schools remained closed today also in view of rains.

The cumulative rainfall in Puducherry and Karaikal regions during the last one week was around 30 cm each.
