Chandigarh: The Sukhbir Singh Badal-led
`crorepati club` of Punjab saw another politician joining its
ranks when BJP-SAD candidate Som Parkash declared he has
assets worth over Rs 2.4 crore while filing his nomination
In his affidavit to the returning officer, Punjab BJP
vice-president Som Parkash (62), who filed his nomination
papers from Phagwara (reserved) seat, stated that he owned Rs
42,30,191 movable assets and Rs 2 crore worth immovable
His spouse Anita owns Rs 20,98,607 movable assets while
her immovable property is nil.
Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, who filed his
nomination papers from Jalalabad assembly seat yesterday,
leads the `crorepati club`.
Sukhbir has assets worth Rs 76.36 crore but does not own
a car as per his declaration in the nomination. He, however,
owns a tractor worth Rs 2.68 lakh. Two years ago when he
fought the by-polls, he had assets worth Rs 64.05 crore with
two tractors in his name.
Besides, his wife and Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal`s
assets was worth Rs 3.90 crore, mainly consisting jewellery.
While Sukhbir owns Rs 7.25 lakh worth of jewellery, his
wife has jewellery of Rs 5.01 crore.
Sukhbir has Rs 5 lakh in cash and his wife Rs 2.50 lakh.
Sukhbir also owns agriculture land worth Rs 17.59 crore
and non-agriculture plots worth Rs 1.68 crore, a house in
Chandigarh and a house in Badal village, 25 per cent share in
SCO in Sector nine of Chandigarh, 9,600 square feet commercial
shops in Minerva complex in Ludhiana, 2,400 and 1,360 square
feet commercial area in village Badal among other properties.
