Amritsar: A day after Navjot Singh Sidhu returned here after a year, the cricketer-turned-BJP MP on Thursday flayed the Parkash Singh Badal-led Punjab government.
In a major embarrassment to the ruling SAD-BJP coalition in Punjab, Sidhu said he felt like MP in opposition.
Sidhu hit out at the state government by saying that the Punjab CM diverted the funds meant for developing Amritsar to other cities.
Last month, Sidhu`s wife, who is also the BJP MLA from East Amritsar, had slammed the Badal-led government for alleged lack of development in the state, including her constituency.
Dr Navjot Kaur Sidhu had said the state government was visionless and directionless and had made only false promises.
Navjot Singh Sidhu returned to Amritsar yesterday after a year and said his prolonged absence from his Lok Sabha constituency was due to his engagements in Mumbai to earn money.
In a statement here, the National Commission for SC and ST chairman described Sidhu as a "fugitive" for the people of Amritsar.
Last week, an NGO launched a poster campaign for the "missing" Sidhu and announced a reward of Rs two lakh for bringing him back to his constituency.
