Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Wednesday assured a delegation from Rajasthan that they would get their due share of river water from Punjab as per the indented supply.
The assurance to this effect was given by Badal to the three-member delegation comprising MLA and former State Minister Radheysham Gangnagar, ex-Agriculture Minister Surinder Singh Titi and ex-Irrigation Minister Gurjant Singh Brar, which met the Chief Minister here today.
Badal told the delegation that he had already directed the Chief Engineer (Canals) to ensure requisite supply of water as per the indent placed by Rajasthan government, according to a Punjab government release here.
The delegation also thanked the Chief Minister for enhancing the release of water from Rajasthan feeder.
A few BJP leaders from Rajasthan had met Badal recently with a request that their state should be allowed to get its share of water as per the agreements reached between Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan before and after the Partition of the country.
