Batala: After allegedly being stopped
from drinkings liquor infront of his shop, a retired soldier
of Murgi Mohalla was killed by some youths of same locality
here today, police said.
Bahadur Chand(58) who was a retired soldier was
running a Karyana (grocery) shop at Murgi Mohalla from the
last five years.
Last night some youths of his locality started
drinking liquor in front of his shop and when he objected, they
started abusing him and other locality people.
Though Bahadur Singh requested many a times to stop
them from drinking infront of his shop but the youths who
were allegedly not in conscious condition, assaulted him and
fled from the spot, police said.
Today, about 10-15 youths armed with base ball bats
and iron rods barged into the house of Bahadur Chand and
killed him with the bats.
Bahadur Singh`s daughter-in-law, who was present in
the house tried to save him but the miscreants also injured
her and later fled from the spot after the locality people
comes into the aid of the family.
On the complaint of deceased`s daughter-in-law, the
police has registered a case against Nimma, Lucky, Lakhbir
Singh, Vijay Kumar, Gurinder Singh, Naresh Kumar and Gudi,
however, no arrest has been reported so far.
