New Delhi: BJP President Amit Shah on Thursday appointed Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar as the Punjab election in-charge and Captain Abhimanyu, a minister in Haryana government, as co-incharge.

The party's general secretary Saroj Pandey will be in-charge of Chandigarh's local elections.

The assembly polls are scheduled in Punjab early next year.

BJP is in power in the state as a junior partner of Shiromani Akali Dal and their alliance is locked in a tough battle with the opposition Congress and AAP.
