BSF deployed in three districts of Punjab

5 companies of BSF were deployed in 3 Punjab districts to beef up security ahead of Supreme Court rejecting Khalistani terrorist Devenderpal Singh Bhullar`s plea regarding death sentence.

Jalandhar: Five companies of BSF have been deployed in three districts of Punjab as part of efforts to beef up security in the wake of Supreme Court rejecting Khalistani terrorist Devenderpal Singh Bhullar`s plea seeking commutation of his death sentence.
"Two BSF companies have been deployed in Amritsar and Ludhiana each and one in Jalandhar," BSF sources said.

Security has also been beefed up around all major religious places in these districts.

Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and his deputy Sukhbir Singh Badal had yesterday met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde in New Delhi seeking clemency for Bhullar on the ground of peace and harmony in the state.

Shinde today said in the national capital that the government has decided to consider the demand.

Bhullar was awarded death penalty for triggering a bomb blast in Delhi in September 1993, killing nine people and injuring 25 others, including then Youth Congress president M S Bitta.
