BSF jawan commits suicide in Punjab

The deceased was deployed at Sadhawali border post on the Indo-Pak border when he shot himself with his service rifle and died on the spot.

Batala: A BSF jawan allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself in the Dera Baba Nanak sector here, BSF sources said on Tuesday.

According to the sources, Vishwajit, a resident of Pakhria Uha in West Bengal was posted in 38 BSF battalion and deployed at Sadhawali border post on the Indo-Pak border when he shot himself with his service rifle and died on the spot.
The cause of the suicide was not immediately known as investigations were on, the sources said adding that senior BSF officials had rushed to the spot.
His body was sent to Civil Hospital at Gurdaspur for a post-mortem examination, the sources said.
