Phagwara: A CID employee was
found murdered and his body recovered from the fields near
Rehana Jattan village around midnight last night, police said.
The deceased, who was posted at Chandigarh, has been
identified as Jasbir Singh of Purani Basi village in
Hoshiarpur district.

Kulbir Singh, brother of the deceased, said that his
brother had come to village on leave to perform rituals on the
death anniversary of their mother.

The victim had left the village a few days ago, saying
he was going to Hoshiarpur to bring certain goods.

When he did not return, family members lodged a police
complaint at Sadar police station Hoshiarpur, they said.

Kulbir alleged that his brother was strangled to
death. Police suspect that a love affair was the reason behind
the murder.

A case under Sections 302 (murder), 201 (causing
disappearance of evidence), 34 (acts done by several persons
in furtherance of common intention) of the IPC was registered
against Nirmal Kaur of Malikpur village and others, the
station house officer of Rawalpindi police station said.

The body has been sent for postmortem to a local
hospital.
