Cold waves continued to sweep most parts of Punjab and Haryana with Amritsar recording a minimum temperature of 3 deg Celsius.
Chandigarh: Cold waves continued to sweep most parts of Punjab and Haryana with Amritsar on Wednesday recording a minimum temperature of 3 degrees Celsius.
While the mercury at Amritsar settled three notches below normal, Ludhiana registered a low of 6.1 deg C.
The minimum at Patiala settled at 6.5 deg C, down two degrees, the Met said here.
Adampur in Jalandhar recorded a minimum of 2.3 deg C.
In Haryana, Hisar was the coldest at 4.6 deg C, down two notches, while Narnaul also shivered at a low of 5 deg C, down two notches.
Ambala experienced a cold night at 5.4 deg C, down two degrees, while the low at Bhiwani settled at 5 deg C.
Karnal recorded a minimum of 5.4 deg C, down five degrees, while respective lows at Rohtak and Gurgaon settled at 7.1 deg C and 8.5 deg C each.
Chandigarh also experienced a cold night at 6.4 deg C, down one degree.
The MeT said that fog reduced visibility early on Wednesday morning at some places, including Karnal and Rohtak in Haryana and at Amritsar in Punjab.
The cold conditions are likely to continue over the next two days in the region, the MeT said.
