A police constable killed his paramour and her husband in a fit of rage and later committed suicide by throwing himself in front of a speeding train here today.

suicide by throwing himself in front of a speeding train here
today.

According to police, the incident took place in the wee
hours when constable Bhajan Singh barged into the house of
Balwinder Singh at village Manewal on the outskirts of the
city and opened fire from his service weapon killing Balwinder
Singh and his wife Bhinder Kaur on the spot.

Pardeep Singh and his younger brother, two sons of the
couple, ecaped as they were sleeping in an adjoining room.
However, they saw Bhajan Singh fleeing after the firing,
police added.

Bhajan Singh was a regular visitor to the house, Pardeep
Singh told the police later.

After hearing gun shots, Pardeep and his younger brother
rushed to their parents room. Seeing the bodies of their
parents, Pardeep and his younger brother came out of their
house and raised an alarm.

Police claimed to have spotted the scooter of the killer
lying at a distance and launched a massive manhunt in the
area.

Later, the cops received a tipoff that Bhajan Singh
allegedly committed suicide by jumping before a passenger
train near Gill railway station.

SHO Sadar Police station Inspector Harvinder Singh said
that during investigations it came to light that Bhajan Singh
was having illicit relations with Bhinder Kaur and the former
had given money to her to construct the house.

The latest provocation was that Bhinder refused to return
money she had borrowed from Bhajan Singh.

Police said Bhajan fired 14 rounds at the couple before
fleeing the spot. A carbine was used for the killing.

However, Police could not recover the weapon used in the
crime. A case of murder was registered against Bhajan Singh.
