Dal Khalsa demands impartial inquiry in drug racket

Radical Sikh outfit Dal Khalsa on Thursday demanded an impartial public inquiry into the allegations against Cabinet Minister Bikram Singh Majithia of being involved in drug racket.

Amritsar: Radical Sikh outfit Dal Khalsa on Thursday demanded an impartial public inquiry into the allegations against Cabinet Minister Bikram Singh Majithia of being involved in drug racket.
Party spokesperson Kanwar Pal Singh also criticised Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal for maintaining a "studied silence" on the issue and asked him to hand over the probe to CBI.

"Badal looks afraid in handing over the probe to CBI, fearing that the investigating agency could bring out more skeletons from?the cupboards of the high and mighty in the Akali Dal," he alleged.

Pal claimed that Badal`s hesitation in handing over the probe to CBI was damaging the image of the Shiromani Akali Dal by showing his government`s inability to move a step further in probing the role of senior politicians and cops.
He said the alleged involvement of Majithia got highlighted recently after allegations of arrested drug smuggler Jagdish Bhola, but former DGP (Prisons) Shashi Kant had pointed finger of suspicion towards Majithia much earlier.

"The people are relying on the statement of former cop Shashi Kant and not Bhola, so Badals can`t simply reject the demand for a probe on one or the other pretext," he said.
