Five persons sentenced in suicide case in Punjab

 A court here has sentenced five persons to five years in jail for molesting a 20-year-old woman, who later committed suicide.

Faridkot (Punjab): A court here has sentenced five persons to five years in jail for molesting a 20-year-old woman, who later committed suicide.

Additional Sessions Judge Harjit Kaur yesterday sentenced the five accused, including a couple.

The victim had set herself a fire in March 2013 after all the five harassed, molested and intimidated her, the prosecution said.

Police had registered a case against Thana alias Pamma, his wife Geeta Rani, their friends Kapil, Ajay and Nirmal, all residents of Faridkot city.

All were booked under section 354 (molestation) and 506 (criminal intimidation) and police also added the section 306 (abetment to suicide) after the victim's death.
