Graft case: BJP lawmaker enlarged on bail

A CBI court granted bail to Punjab BJP MLA Raj Khurana and his Private Secretary in a graft case.

Chandigarh: A CBI court on Tuesday granted bail
to Punjab BJP MLA Raj Khurana and his Private Secretary in a
graft case.

CBI Judge Ritu Tagore enlarged Khurana and his PS Bhag
Singh on bail and directed them to furnish bonds of Rs five
lakh each.
Opposing Khurana`s bail, the prosecution contended the
MLA belonged to the ruling party and could tamper with the
evidence.
The CBI had arrested Khurana, a BJP MLA from Rajpura,
and Devinder Singh, an official of the Registrar, Firms and
Societies, Punjab, last month on the basis of a complaint
filed by Punjab Automobile Mechanic Association Secretary
Manpreet Singh.

The complaint alleged that Khurana and Bhag had
demanded Rs 1.5 crore bribe for closing a complaint against
the Association.

A CBI raid at the residence of Khurana resulted in the
recovery of Rs 15 lakh cash.
