HC judges to make assets public by March 31

The Punjab and Haryana High Court will be the fourth in the country where judges will make their assets public by March 31.

Chandigarh: The Punjab and Haryana High Court will be the fourth in the country where judges will make their assets public by March 31.

A decision to this effect was taken by a full court bench yesterday after it agreed on a relatively transparent format in disclosing their assets, officials said here today.

After the Supreme Court judges made their assets public on November 3, 2009, all high courts were asked to follow suit.

The first three high courts to follow the footsteps of the judges of the apex court were the high courts of Delhi, Kerala and Himachal Pradesh.

The declaration by the Punjab and Haryana High Court judges will be posted on the official website of the court www.highcourtchd.gov.in by March 31, they said.

The High Court has 47 judges but none has posted the particulars on the net despite the fact the trend setter Justice K Kannan is from here.

The judges declaration would have a classification of moveable and immovable property.
