Muktsar: BJP on Wednesday said that coordinated efforts were required from the Punjab government and the Centre to fight the drug menace in the state.
BJP President Kamal Sharma said, "The state government and the Centre should jointly fight the drug menace in Punjab. The fight against the issue of drug abuse is a crusade that needs participation of the Centre, the state and society."
"Punjab being a border state needs to deal with the matter very carefully," he said.
He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking up the issue of narco-terrorism during his radio programme 'Mann Ki Baat'.
Sharma described the state as "sword arm" of the country and stressed the need to build a healthy and strong Punjab.
He lauded Punjab government for dedicating year 2015 for fighting drug menace, female feticide and development of agriculture.
"We have to start this fight from our own house... We must take an oath that we will leave no stone unturned in this fight," Sharma said while exhorting the public to come forward in support of the cause.
