Manish Tewari`s effigy burnt outside his house

Congress workers on Saturday burnt the effigy of local MP and party spokesman Manish Tewari in resentment against ticket allotment.

Ludhiana: Congress workers on Saturday burnt the
effigy of local MP and party spokesman Manish Tewari outside
his residence at Sarabha Nagar to protest the allotment of
ticket to former minister Maljit Singh Birmi.

Harchand Singh Dhir, general secretary of the district
unit of the Congress, who was leading the protest, alleged
that Tewari had misguided Congress leaders in Delhi during the
allotment of tickets.

He claimed that Tewari had played with the emotions of
dedicated party workers, and demanded the withdrawal of the
ticket allotted to Birmi from Atam Nagar assembly
constituency.

Meanwhile, Congress workers from Samrala, Khanna,
Jagraon, Sahnewal and Ludhiana (central) constituencies also
opposed the candidature of their respective candidates.
