MP should be consulted before important appointments : Sidhu

Navjot Sidhu, who had threatened to resign over appointment of local party leader RS Chhina as the chief of a trust, said no political leader should be given an important post in a constituency without consulting the area MP.

Jalandhar: BJP MP from Amritsar Navjot Singh
Sidhu, who had threatened to resign over appointment of local
party leader R S Chhina as the chief of a trust, today said no
political leader should be given an important post in a
constituency without consulting the area MP.

"I am not against any particular person, but against the
appointment of any political leader, who is badly rejected by
the people, to a plum post", the former cricketer told
reporters here.

Asked if he considers himself the winner now that Chinna
has been removed as the Chairman of the Amritsar Improvement
Trust, Sidhu said his fight was not against him but against
the system which rewards a person who has been rejected by the
people.

When asked about Chinna`s recent elevation to the post of
Chairman of the Punjab State Industrial Corporation by the
ruling SAD-BJP combine, Sidhu said he would continue to raise
the issue at an appropriate level.

Asked if he thought he was capable of taking over the
reins of the state unit of the party, he said, "I am very much
aware of my capabilities and abide by any instructions of the
party high command to take on any post."

Sidhu had returned to his constituency after a gap of
nearly three months on Saturday.

Sidhu also lodged a complaint with the
police that some unknown person has hacked his e-mail account.
Davinder Singh, cyber crime in-charge of Punjab
Police, said that it would take some time to find out the
hacker.
