Jalandhar: Ruling out any Naxal activity
in Punjab, DGP P S Gill on Saturday said that the state police is
fully capable of dealing with any extremist threat.

"There is no Naxal activity in any part of state," the
Director General of Police, who was here to hand over ISO
certificates to police stations in Jalandhar commissionerate,
told reporters.
"We will not allow terrorism to take roots again and
the state police can deal with any such threat," Gill said.

He said Punjab Police was preparing for a major
face-lift exercise.

On expansion of the commissionerate system, he said it
is introduced in cities having over five lakh population. He
said reduction in crime and rise in conviction rate has been
observed wherever the system has been introduced.
Gill said all the police stations in the
commissionerate will now have online connectivity and they
will complete inquiries related to passport verification, arms
license and other complaints in a time-bound manner.

On passports being issued to the family of Khalistan
Commando Force terrorist Paramjit Singh Panjwar, he said they
were investigating the case.

The DGP said that forged documents could have been
used in police verification.
