No threat of revival of terrorism in Punjab: Sukhbir
Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today said there was no threat of revival of terrorism in the state.
Ferozepur: Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today said there was no threat of revival of terrorism in the state.
"The state would not allow any terrorist module to lift its ugly face again in this peaceful atmosphere," he told reporters after laying the foundation stone of development projects worth Rs 111 crore in the district.
Appreciating the "vigilant efforts" of Punjab Police, he said they have recently foiled several terrorist modules and arrested the kingpins from different parts of the state.
The state`s police was more vigilant than central agencies, which have failed to foil nefarious designs of militants, he said.
On being asked about refund of VAT, Badal clarified that assessments were on the verge of completion and would be over soon.
He said under the new `VAT refund policy` of Punjab government, disbursement of refunds would be done as per categories A, B and C earmarked under this policy.
Replying to a question on Dearness Allowance (DA) to government employees, he assured DA would be released soon and said Punjab was the only state to disburse Rs 7,000 crore to its employees as per recommendations of the Pay Commission.
"There was no issue of DA, it was only due to hollow hue and cry of PPCC president Partap Singh Bajwa," he said, adding that Congress was not aware of the state`s economics and was playing the role of "state`s enemy" by criticising the government on every front based on misleading data.
