Not English, but candidates` skills more imp: Patil to Army

Punjab Governor Shivraj V Patil today said instead of giving more importance to fluency in spoken English during recruitment, the Army should pay attention on capabilities of the candidates.

today said instead of giving more importance to fluency in
spoken English during recruitment, the Army should pay
attention on capabilities of the candidates.

"Army recruitment centres should not give more importance
that candidate should speak in English fluently, but they
should pay attention on capability of the candidates," he said
during a `Governor`s Core Advisory and Monitoring Committee`
meeting.

He also asked the officers to impart required security
training to ex-servicemen so that they could be adjusted in
private security agencies also.

"We have various institutions in our state to impart
them necessary training in different vocations and to equip
them with various professional skills," he added.
