Chandigarh: Punjab Governor Shivraj V Patil today said instead of giving more importance to fluency in spoken English during recruitment, the Army should pay attention on capabilities of the candidates.

"Army recruitment centres should not give more importance that candidate should speak in English fluently, but they should pay attention on capability of the candidates," he said during a 'Governor's Core Advisory and Monitoring Committee' meeting.

He also asked the officers to impart required security training to ex-servicemen so that they could be adjusted in private security agencies also.

"We have various institutions in our state to impart them necessary training in different vocations and to equip them with various professional skills," he added.
