Congress candidate Rana Gurjit Singh from this constituency has been served a show cause notice for violating the model code of conduct.

Kapurthala: Congress candidate Rana Gurjit
Singh from this constituency has been served a show cause
notice for violating the model code of conduct during a road
show on January 10.

The Returning Officer has asked the Congress candidate
to reply within 48 hours, failing which action would be taken
against him, Assistant Returning officer Arvinder Singh said
on Thursday.

He said a video recording showed Rana going to file his
nomination papers at the centre in an open truck along with a
sea of supporters which caused traffic jams at many places in
the city.

SAD candidate Sarabjit Singh Makkar apparently took out a
similar road show and reached the centre to file his
nomination papers yesterday. The administration would take
action after receiving video evidence against him, he added.
Frequent traffic jams were witnessed in the city during
the road shows carried by Congress and SAD candidates in the
city.
