Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has decided to attend his office at least three days a week, officials said on Wednesday.

The five-time Chief Minister has chosen to attend the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday for "quick and effective disposal of official work," an official spokesperson here said.

Earlier, Badal used to attend his office, but no particular days had been fixed, the spokesperson said.

The Chief Minister also operates from his residence, it being the camp office.
Badal also directed the senior officers and heads of the departments to remain present in their respective offices during these days for immediate and effective resolution of grievances or issues as may be raised by the general public or being brought to his notice in the meetings.

Reiterating the firm commitment of the state government to provide prompt and hassle free delivery of services to the general public, the 86-year-old asked all routine officers and officials to attend their offices from 9 am to 5 pm on all working days.

This comes a day after 18 Deputy Commissioners and 22 Senior Superintendents of Police in Punjab were found absent from duty during a surprise inspection conducted by the Chief Minister Office (CMO).
Badal also impressed upon them to discharge their duties with utmost dedication, honesty, and professional commitment in the public interest. He also asked them to maintain decorum and punctuality in offices to win over the confidence of the general public.

The Chief Minister is also known to tour the hinterland of Punjab regularly and also has `Sangat Darshan` programme to solve the grievances of the people at their doorsteps.
