Punjab, Haryana in the grip of cold wave

Chandigarh: Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh continued to be in the grip of extreme cold with Amritsar remaining at sub-zero temperature.

Amritsar, which had yesterday recorded a low of minus 2 degree Celsius, registered a low of minus 0.4 degree Celsius today, down four notches from the normal level, the MeT department here said.

Patiala, too, experienced a cold night at 4.5 degree Celsius while Ludhiana's low settled at 5.6 degree Celsius. Chandigarh recorded a low of five degree Celsius.

In Haryana, Hisar was the coldest place recording a minimum of 1.8 degree Celsius, down four notches, while Narnaul, too, recorded a similar minimum at 1.9 degree Celsius. Rohtak and Bhiwani also experienced the chill recording respective below normal minimums of 3.7 degree Celsius and 2 degree Celsius.

Karnal was cold at 3.4 degree Celsius, while Ambala's low settled at 5.9 degree Celsius.

According to the MeT, cold wave conditions will continue in the two states during the next two days.
