Chandigarh: Punjab Assembly Speaker Nirmal
Singh Kahlon today termed as "inappropriate" the accusations
leveled by a Congress MLA against him and said he will give a
privilege notice to the legislator.
"What he said (about the speaker yesterday) is absolutely
inappropriate...I will give a privilege notice to him," the
Speaker told the state Assembly during the Zero Hour.
Earlier SAD MLA Amarjeet Singh Sahi, referring to Punjab
Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira`s accusations against the
Speaker, had said that "the MLA had leveled serious
allegations against the custodian of the House."
He urged the Speaker to setup a committee of the House to
take necessary action against Khaira. "Besides, he (Khaira)
had been using unparliamentary language during the current
session against the treasury benches members," he claimed.
Khaira had yesterday accused Kahlon of allowing his son
to exercise extra constitutional authority, to deny rights of
opposition members in the House, a charge vehemently denied by
Khaira had alleged that Speaker`s son Ravi Kiran sits in
the chamber and decides the priorities of the questions to be
put by Opposition members.
When heat was generated against Khaira, the MLA stood up
and shouted that he had given 30 questions in this session,
but only a few were listed.
