Punjab: Two dozen bus passengers injured in mishap

The incident took place when a private bus on Sunday overturned on the national highway near Bone Mill Chaheru.

Phagwara: At least two dozen passengers, including children, women and a Head Constable, were injured, when a private bus today overturned on the national highway near Bone Mill Chaheru, police said.

The bus driver was trying to save a motorcyclist and the pillion rider when it overturned after hitting the divider and climbing onto the other side at NH1, they said.

While 16 of the injured were admitted to a local civil hospital, others were discharged after first aid, they said, adding that the motorcycle riders jumped to safety in time.

The private transport bus, plying from Ludhiana to Jalandhar, and the motorcycle were badly damaged.

Traffic was also adversely affected on the highway after the accident.
