Ludhiana: Veterinary doctors working on contract basis in government hospitals on Wednesday created a ruckus during inaugural function of the `Kisan Mela` organised by the Punjab Agricultural University here today.

Over 100 doctors shouted slogans and demanded regularisation of their jobs when senior PAU functionaries were addressing the gathering.

Dr Navdeep Singh Khinda, representing the agitators said, "we are veterinary doctors who are working primarily in the rural areas. Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal had promised to regularise our jobs some four years back but he failed to keep his promise.?

The agitating doctors rushed to the dais where all the dignitaries including VC PAU M S Kang along with deans and members of PAU board were seated.

Police tried to persuade them to go back but the situation turned worse with some protesters damaging plants.
