Chandigarh: Light to moderate rains on Saturday drenched parts of Punjab, Haryana and Union Territory Chandigarh.
In the wake of continued widespread rains, the temperature in the region also fell appreciably with Narnaul in Haryana recording the lowest of 27 degree Celsius.
Humidity levels, however, were between 76 percent (Hissar) and 92 percent (Narnaul and Rohtak) at various places in the region.
Chandigarh received 13.6 mm of rain till 8.30 am today. The other places which received rain in the region included Ambala, Hissar, Karnal, Ludhiana and Patiala, MeT officials said.
The MeT department has forecast a general cloudy sky in the region with spells of rain and thunder showers at some places.
The rains are stated to be beneficial for the paddy crop grown in large areas of the two states.
Power and telecom services, however, were disrupted at a few places due to the rain, reports said.
The flow of water in the rivers Yamuna, Tangri, Ghaggar, Ravi and Beas increased in view of rainfall in the catchment areas.
