and Haryana for the second consecutive day Monday, bringing down the mercury by a few notches.
Light showers lashed Chandigarh last night while
neighbouring Ambala and Panchkula in Haryana also received
light rains, according to the MeT department here.
Amritsar received a rainfall of 16.8 mm as the holy city
and its surrounding areas were lashed by hailstorm last
Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Moga, Phagwara, Gurdaspur, Pathankot
also received showers.
The MeT said that change in weather was due to a Western
Disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir and adjoining areas.
In Haryana, Narnaul received a heavy downpour at 35 mm,
Karnal was lashed by heavy rains at 23.8 mm, Hisar had 12.9 mm
rain while Rohtak received 13.3 mm rainfall.
Gurgaon, Bhiwani, Kalka and Kurukshetra also received
"The rain and windy weather at this stage can cause great
damage to the ripe wheat crop, whose harvesting has started,"
a Amritsar-based farmer said.
Keeping the weather in view, the farmers have been
advised to make necessary arrangements to prevent any possible
damage to their crops.
