Rains at few places, minimum temp drops in Punjab, Haryana

With overnight rains lashing some parts of Punjab and Haryana, the minimum temperature fell below normal at a few places in the region.

below normal at a few places in the region.

The minimum temperatures hovered between three degrees
Celsius above normal to two degrees Celsius below normal in
most parts of Punjab and Haryana, the MeT office said here.

While Karnal received 2.2 mm of rains, Chandigarh got 1.4
mm of rains and Amritsar 0.4 mm of rains.

Amritsar was the coldest place in plains of Punjab and
Haryana with a low of 4.6 degrees Celsius, which was two
notches below normal.

Among other places, Ludhiana settled at a low of 7.7
degrees Celsius, one notch below normal, followed by 10.2
degrees Celsius at Patiala.

Karnal and Hisar settled at an identical low of 10.4
degrees Celsius, while Chandigarh and Rohtak had a similar
minimum of 11.3 deg C, which was two notches each above
normal.

While Gurgaon had a low of 12 degrees Celsius, three
notches above normal, the minimum temperature at Ambala was
12.2 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal.

The MeT forecast possibility of light showers at a few
places in the region during the next two days.
