Chandigarh: Rains lashed a few places in
Punjab and Haryana bringing down the mercury by a few notches.
Chandigarh received heavy showers (12.1 mm) Sunday evening, while Ambala, Karnal, Bhiwani, Kurukshetra,
Panchkula and Kalka in Haryana were among other places that
received light rains, local Met office said.
In Punjab, Patiala, Mohali and Balachaur also received
showers.
After a few days of temporary respite owing to
widespread rains in the two states last week, mercury
yesterday had soared above the 40 degrees Celsius mark at most
places.
The Met office said that a Western Disturbance,
which was passing over the region, caused rains in Chandigarh
and some parts of the two states yesterday besides several
places in neighbouring Himachal Pradesh.
