SAD workers clash with shopkeepers in Punjab

A clash broke out between the ruling SAD workers and local shopkeepers here after the party activists allegedly forced the closure of shops during the cremation of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal`s wife Surinder Kaur.

Moga: A clash broke out between the ruling SAD workers and local shopkeepers here after the party activists allegedly forced the closure of shops during the
cremation of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal`s wife Surinder Kaur.

Shiromani Akali Dal workers and some shopkeepers at Baghapurana here had heated argument over the closure of shops following which some Akalis inflicted injuries on the head of a grocery shop owner, Ram Kishan, police said today.

Kishan, who sustained serious injuries, was admitted to a hospital in Ludhiana.

Agitated over the incident, the shopkeepers blocked traffic and sought registration of a case against the party workers.

Police have booked 11 people on the charges of attempt to murder, but no arrest has been made so far.
