SAD(A) president Simranjit Singh Mann on Saturday asked senior BJP leader Lakhsmi Kanta Chawla not to interfere in the affairs of Akal Takht Sahib and Sikhs over the issue related to former Amritsar MP Navjot Singh Sidhu performing 'havan'.

Fatehgarh Sahib: SAD(A) president Simranjit Singh Mann on Saturday asked senior BJP leader Lakhsmi Kanta Chawla not to interfere in the affairs of Akal Takht Sahib and Sikhs over the issue related to former Amritsar MP Navjot Singh Sidhu performing 'havan'.

Chawla had opposed the Akal Takht Sahib's Jathedar's statement against Sidhu and maintained that the Jathedar cannot act against him.

In a statement issued here, Mann said Akal Takht Jathedar? Giani Gurbachan Singh, the head of the high temporal seat, had raised objection to the 'havan'.

As per Akal Takht Jathedar, as Sidhu is a Sikh?it is against Sikh tenets, but Chawla had strongly opposed the Akal Takht Jathedar's statement.

Mann said Chawla's act is her direct interference in affairs of the Akal Takht and Sikhs, and Sikh community will not tolerate it.

He said though Sidhu belongs to BJP but before becoming member of the saffron party, he is a Sikh.

Mann said that Sikhs only follow Sri Guru Granth Sahib and ten Sikh Masters and are not associated with organising 'havans'.
