Amritsar: Dalbir Kaur, sister of condemned Indian prisoner Sarabjit Singh, on Wednesday sent medicines for her brother lodged in Kotlakhpathrai jail in Pakistan through his lawyer.

Kaur sent the medicines through advocate Awais Sheikh who returned to Pakistan. He had come to India on August 16.

She said the medicines were related to Sarabjit`s bone and stomach infections.

Kaur alleged her brother was not provided mandatory medical treatment at the Kotlakhpathrai prison in Lahore.

She recently met President Pranab Mukherjee in New Delhi and told him about the poor health of her brother and Sarabjit`s apprehension about getting unhygienic food in jail.

Kaur also met Union Home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde with a request for an immediate visit by the Indian High Commissioner to Kotlakhpath jail where Sarabjit is lodged.

Sarabjit was set to be hanged on April 1, 2008 but the authorities put off the execution after the then Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani sought to examine the issue.

Sarabjit, known as Manjit Singh in the neighbouring country, was arrested by the Pakistani army in 1990.
