Six juvenile delinquents escape

In the second such incident within a year, six juvenile delinquents with a Bangladeshi among them escaped from a correctional home.

Hoshiarpur: In the second such incident within a year, six juvenile delinquents with a Bangladeshi among them, on Thursday escaped from a correctional home here, police said.

Six juvenile delinquents lodged along with 58 others at the Bal Sudhar Ghar here, fled after breaking three iron bars of the gate, Hoshiarpur SP Randhir Singh Uppal said.

District Social Security Officer Jagdish Mitter who was in charge of the juvenile home and three security guards have been suspended after preliminary investigations into the incident, Deputy Commissioner of Police Dharam Dutt Ternach said.
Police stations around the district have been informed and efforts are on to locate them, they said, adding that a magisterial probe has also been ordered into the incident.

An undertrial prisoner had fled from the same juvenile home in August this year.
