Chandigarh: Punjab`s Chief Electoral Officer
(CEO) has sought a report on former top cop PS Gill`s
appointment as Adviser to the state Home Department after his
retirement on September 30.
The day Gill superannuated, he was appointed as Adviser
(Home) by the state government.
On October 2, Gill held a massive road show in Moga from
where he is likely to contest the upcoming Punjab Assembly
polls on Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) ticket.
"The election office has asked the government for a copy
of Gill`s appointment letter," Punjab`s CEO Kusumjit Sidhu
said here today.
She said she would take the Election Commission`s view
on Gill once her office receives the letter from the Punjab
All retired Punjab Civil Services (PCS) officers who had
been re-employed by the state government would not perform
election duty, she said.
Gill was not available for comment.
