Victory monument inaugurated at Chandimandir

Located next to the existing War Memorial, the monument will be a constant source of commitment and gallantry to all ranks of Western Command.

Chandigarh: On the occasion of Republic Day on Thursday, a Victory monument was inaugurated by Lt Gen S R Ghosh, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Command, at Military Station, Chandimandir as a solemn tribute to heroes and martyrs of the Western Army Command.

Located next to the existing War Memorial, the monument will be a constant source of commitment and gallantry to all ranks of Western Command, which was raised in September 1947, he said, according to a defence release here.

The valiant troops of the Western Command have won many gallantry awards including 11 Param Vir Chakras (PVCs).
