Jaipur: Fourteen government doctors of SMS Hospital, including its Principal and Superintendent, have been booked on charges of negligence after a 12-year-old boy died due to their alleged carelessness.

A case was lodged on Monday against SMS Hospital Superintendent Dr L C Sharma, Principal Dr Subhash Nepalia and 12 others for negligence in treatement of Sarthak, who died in the hospital on September 18, 2009, police said.

After the incident, the victim's father had sought details about the cause of death but the hospital administration had not given a satisfactory answer.

The father then filed a complaint in the Rajasthan High Court in which he accused the SMS Hospital authorities of wrong treatment and demanded action against the guilty doctors.

The court directed the police to lodge FIR against the accused, following which a case was registered with Moti Doongari police station under IPC Section 304 A (causing death by negligence).
