Jaipur: Fifteen people, including six
women and two children, were today killed and 24 injured when
a bus in which they were travelling collided head on with a
truck-trailor carrying iron rods in Rajasthan's Tonk district.
The mishap occurred near Deoli, 162 km from Jaipur,
this afternoon when the bus was on its way from Kota to
Jaipur, Superintendent of Police, Tonk, K B Vandana said.
The heavy rods pierced the bus, hitting the passengers
from the front side. Seven passengers and the driver were
killed on the spot, she said.
While eight of the injured were admitted to Deoli
government hospital, 16 others were shifted to Kota government
hospital.
The death toll might increase as the condition of some
of the injured was stated to be critical, she said.
The district administration has announced an
ex-gratia of Rs 10,000 to the next of kin of those killed and
Rs 5000 to the injured, officials said.
