Bhanwari: HC issues notice to CBI on plea by Khetasar

Khetasar had filed a writ petition in the high court on April 16 objecting to the CBI summoning him everyday "without giving any notice".

Jodhpur: The Rajasthan High Court on Thursday issued notice to the CBI seeking its response on a plea by former BJP leader Shambhu Singh Khetasar, a suspect in Bhanwari Devi murder case, alleging that he is being subjected to illegal interrogation by the agency.

Justice Sangeet Lodha issued notices to the Director and Deputy Director of the CBI along with the investigation officer and a inspector of the CBI seeking reply in 2 weeks while listing the matter for hearing on May 7.

Khetasar had filed a writ petition in the high court on April 16 objecting to the CBI summoning him everyday "without giving any notice".

His counsel P S Bhati argued in the court that despite filing the charge-sheets and identifying accused in the case, Khetasar was being subjected to "interrogation illegally".
"He is being targeted on the grounds of political rivalry with Mahipal Maderna," Bhati said.
